British fatalities ‘likely’ in Phuket air crash

The Foreign and Commonwealth Office is yet to confirm whether any British travellers were killed in the aircraft crash in Phuket.

However, a spokesman said it was “likely” that there will have been British fatalities following the crash in Thailand, which took place as a One-Two-Go aircraft came in to land in heavy rain yesterday.

The aircraft, which had departed from Bangkok, swerved off the runway, split in two and burst into flames as it landed. Of the 130 people on board, 88 were killed.

Rescue workers are continuing to sift through the wreckage in search of remains while the black boxes, which have already been located, are being sent to the US for analysis.
