Lufthansa is set to double the number of flights between Newcastle and Dusseldorf from November.
The airline is adding a second flight from Monday to Friday, and a Sunday service from November 5, bringing the total on offer to 12.
These will provide more connections for customers visiting European destinations not served by Newcastle, such as Marseille, Milanand Zurich.
General manager Marianne Sammann said: “These new flights offer huge benefits for passengers who want quick and easy connections to Europe. Lufthansa offers minimum onward connection times from Dusseldorf from just 35 minutes, making it a real alternative to the other major hubs.”
From May 2008, the airline will station three Airbus A 340-300 long-range jets in Dusseldorf and add a five flights a week service to Toronto. The new aircraft will also service New York and Chicago routes.
Return flights from Newcastle to Dusseldorf are priced from £109.
