The arrival of the first international chain hotel in Jersey should drive a growth in the island’s short breaks market.
Premier Holidays product manager Beverley Scarr said the newly-built Radisson SAS property, which opens in November, is one of two properties being added to the Jersey section in the operator’s 2007/08 Jersey, Guernsey and Isle of Man brochure.
She added: “There is a lot of investment in Jersey hotels at the moment and that will lift the island’s image further. Having hotels of this quality will encourage the short-break market. Many people like the idea of getting away for a few days’ luxury, but they don’t want to go too far from home.”
A further seven properties are being included in Guernsey. Three additional weekly flights from Newcastle and two extra flights from Durham Tees Valley to Jersey are being included. A new route from Leeds Bradford to Jersey is also offering three flights a week.
Prices lead in at £115 for two nights’ bed-and-breakfast accommodation at the Norfolk Hotel in Jersey and includes return ferry passages from Portsmouth.
