Hilton Hotels plans to open 15 hotels in Turkey over the next five years as part of its European expansion strategy.
The chain has made initial plans with real estate development company Amplio to build the hotels, which will consist of the budget Hampton by Hilton brand and mid–market Hilton Garden Inn. The first hotels will be in Manisa, in the west of Turkey, and Diyarbkir in the east.
Hilton Hotels Europe president Wolfgang Neumann said: “By signing this deal we are on track to realising our ambition to open 1,000 hotels internationally in 10 years. The size of this anticipated agreement is indicative of the potential that exists to develop the hotel sector across Turkey.”
The company is focusing on key development markets such as the UK and Ireland, Italy, the Iberian Peninsula, Germany and Poland.
Last month, Hilton signed an agreement with Belgravia Asset Management for 25 Hampton by Hilton and Hilton Garden Inn hotels in Russia.
Hilton has eight hotels in Turkey and 2,800 worldwide.
