WTM: ‘Procreation holidays’ are latest UK travel trend

Couples are planning holidays to procreate and tour operators and hoteliers are set to cash in on the latest trend to hit the UK.

Independent research carried out for World Travel Market has suggested that as more people take breaks in a bid to become pregnant, the trade is preparing to do all it can to help with the trend that is already big business in the US.

Luxury hotel chain Starwood has launched specialist packages at Caribbean properties to entice wannabe parents.

In the UK, TUI-owned Thomson Holidays also hopes to help existing parents by increasing the hours of its kids’ clubs.

TUI distribution director Derek Jones said: “Very often parents might want to try for another baby, but having kids already makes it impossible to get precious time alone.

“Giving them the opportunity to spend quality time together was part of the thinking behind our new Family Club-xtra product.”
