Lowcostbeds.com to open second call centre

Lowcostbeds.com is to open a second fully-fledged call centre at its West Sussex offices that will more than double the size of its operation to over 60 staff.

Less than two years ago the dynamic packaging supplier was operating from a barn in the Sussex countryside.

It has now expanded at its Sussex House offices in East Grinstead, moving into space until recently occupied by TUI Travel brands including Thomson Worldwide, which has moved to offices in Kingston, Surrey.

Until now Lowcostbeds.com has had around 20-25 staff based at its main call centre in its Basingstoke offices, which formally housed Century Travel, taken over by Lowcostbeds.com in February 2006. Overflow calls were being taken at Sussex House but no formal call centre operation had been set up.

Commercial director Simon O’Flynn said the company is  now recruiting full-time call centre staff and is in the process of setting up a proper call centre in time for January’s peak sales period. It is possible the company could ultimately employ up to 60 call centre staff at Sussex House.

“We will have a proper, functioning call centre here. We now have enough space to keep growing and we are looking at a range of opportunities for next year,” he said.

The company recently relaunched its cruise website lowcostcrusing.com to offer dynamically packaged cruise holidays.
