NCL launches New Year discount campaign

Norwegian Cruise Line is launching a simplied New Year discounting campaign in response to agent feedback.

The cruise line will roll out its ‘WAVE Freestyle Giveaway’ to the trade on Saturday, which will carry on until the end of February.

NCL will be offering a straight £100 off per person for the first two people in a stateroom, meaning up to £200 off each room for 2008 European, Alaska and Hawaii sailings. The offer is also valid on Caribbean departures in winter 2008/09.

NCL head of sales Nick Wilkinson said over the past few months agents had been requesting ‘simplicity’ in the pricing structure.

He said: “We have listened to our partners and we hope we have made it as simple as possible for them.

“Last year we offered either a stateroom upgrade or onboard credit and agents were unsure what they were getting.”

As part of the campaign NCL is providing marketing tools for the agents which can be overbranded and sent to customers by post or e-mail.

Europe and Alaska are already selling well with the UK market, according to NCL.

General manager Stephen Park, who rejoined the company three months ago after a two-year break, revealed sales for next year are up 45% on last year and that the line saw a boost in bookings following the launch of its latest ship Norwegian Gem in October.
