Deposits of £10 per holiday are believed to form part of The Co-operative Travel’s post-Christmas campaign.
As Travel Weekly went to press, the company would not confirm details of its campaign, due to be revealed to staff today.
Head of retail Trevor Davis said: “We have got some strong offers which will be the main plank of our campaign.”
He added: “We are going into Christmas in a strong position. We have got to be aggressive and be seen to be offering something others are not.”
Meanwhile, Cosmos is running a campaign with lead-in prices of £189, with deposits of £50 on short haul and £75 on long haul also on offer.
Sales director Andy Washington said the operator was not running lower deposits because of potential administration problems such as consumers cancelling and rebooking nearer the time if prices drop.
Virgin Holidays’ January advertising is promoting 100,000 holidays from £499.
