The five star Milestone Hotel in Kensington has been named the best hotel in London in Travel and Leisure magazine’s 500 World’s Best Hotels list for 2008.
The boutique hotel, part of the Red Carnation group, beat Claridge’s and the Ritz to earn the top spot in the magazine’s annual report. Another five star Red Carnation hotel, 41 near Buckingham Palace, was named number two in the list.
A spokesman from Red Carnation said: “This is a superb acknowledgment for Red Carnation, which comprises six hotels in London as well as Dorset, Geneva, Palm Beach, Cape Town and Durban.”
The top hotel in the world was the Oberoi Udaivilas in Udaipur, India and best in Europe was the Four Seasons in Sultanahmet, Istanbul.
The list was compiled from the magazine’s World’s Best reader survey conducted in 2007.
