Medhotels.com is expanding its long haul offering amid concern about the impact of the plunge in the value of the pound against the euro.
The accommodation-only provider has added Barbados to its collection for Winter 2008/09, featuring six four star hotels from the Elegant Hotels group. Another six will be added this month. It has also added properties in North Africa and the Canary Islands.
Group commercial director Carl Burrows said: “We are on tenterhooks about the impact of the exchange rate, but people love their holidays and hopefully will make the effort to afford it.
“In light of this, we feel the US and Caribbean will become more important in our portfolio.”
The company also aims to provide for customers looking to book ahead, and offers a 25% early booking discount.
“Getting our summer programme out early was very successful for us, so we want to do the same with winter bookings.”
Medhotels.com now has the largest collection of Greek properties at over 400, said Burrows, with a focus on three star hotels and self-catering.
