US: Funway Holidays Hawaii fam trip report

A fam trip to Hawaii gave a group of agents a real insight into island life. Janine Kelso reports

Ten top-performing agents spent a week on an educational in tropical Hawaii last month after winning a competition with Funway Holidays.

The US specialist teamed up with Hawaii Tourism Europe to hold a prize draw for all agents who had booked a package to a Funway destination.

The winning agents were split into two groups with one party visiting Oahu and Maui, and the other staying in Kauai and Oahu.

I expected Kauai to be green as it is known as the Garden Island, but I was still pleasantly surprised to discover just how lush it is. It’s really friendly and safe too, and there’s accommodation to suit every pocket. My favourite part of the trip was the helicopter ride.”

Fran Laponder, Holidaysplease, Swanley, Kent“I’ve sold a lot of holidays to Hawaii and most clients just go to Waikiki Beach. Now I will definitely recommend a twin-centre break. Many people just think of Hawaii as being Waikiki Beach, but there is much more to it. The islands are so diverse.”

Lynette Connelly, Barrhead Travel, Stirling“Hawaii suits everybody – whether you are seeking adventure or youlove the beach. It’s like paradise. There are fantastic beaches and great shopping. It’s also ideal for golfers as there are eight 18-hole courses in Kauai.”

Kevin Partridge, Bath Travel, Newton Abbot, Devon“I’d recommend hiring a car as it gives you more flexibility than an organised tour. In Kauai, there’s only one major road and two roundabouts so it’s easy to get around. There are lots of free attractions that can be reached by car, such as waterfalls and canyons.”
