Penny Wilson has been appointed editor-in-chief of Travel Weekly and the TW Group as part of a management restructure.
Wilson, who has more than 25 years of international journalism experience, will be tasked with developing Travel Weekly and driving editorial strategy for the TW Group, which also includes Gazetteers.com and Travolution.
TW Group publisher Simon Ferguson said: “As the market continues to change, we want to accelerate our position. We have exciting plans in the pipeline and as we develop these it has become clear we need an overall editorial content strategy for the group.”
Wilson joins from Travel Weekly’s holding company Reed Business Information, where she has spent the last three years as global editorial director of ICIS, the world’s largest chemical information provider.
Previously she was launch editor of Enterprise for Entrepreneurs magazine and deputy editor of both Caterer and Hotelkeeper and Personnel Today business-to-business magazines.
Meanwhile, online editor Martin Couzins will become managing editor for Travel Weekly, supporting Wilson in the day-to-day management of Travel Weekly as well as travelweekly.co.uk.
As a result of the restructure Travel Weekly editor Sarah Longbottom has left the business to pursue new opportunities. Ferguson added: “I would like to thank Sarah for her time on Travel Weekly and wish her all the best for the future.”
