Costa cruises to float out two new ships on June 27

Costa Cruises will float out two new ships from the Fincantieri’s Marghera yard and the Fincantieri’s Genoa Sestri Ponente shipyard respectively on June 27.

Following the float-out, work will begin on the fitting out and interior decoration of Costa Luminosa and Costa Pacifica. The work is due to take a year to complete.

Costa Luminosa is due for delivery at the end of April 2009, with Costa Pacifica the following month.

The arrival of the two new vessels will bring the number of ships in the Costa fleet to 14, with a total guest capacity of 36,000 people.

The 92,700 gross tonnage Costa Luminosa will be able to carry up to 2,828 guests.

It will also include a 4D cinema, a show lounge, a golf simulator featuring 37 virtual golf courses plus an outdoor area with a putting green as well as a jogging and rollerblading track.

There will be 772 verandah cabins out of a total of 1,130 cabins.

Costa Pacifica has 114,500 gross tonnage and total guest capacity of 3,7800.

Facilities on board include a Grand Prix driving simulator, a central lido extending over two decks and fitted with a sliding glass roof and big movie screen.
