The trend towards taking a holiday at home or in the UK – dubbed the “staycation” – could provide an opportunity for travel agents, according to Superbreak.
Agents should latch on to the trend and work extra hard to make the most of sales, said sales director Ian Mounser.
Last week (week ending July 27) agents booked over £1.2 million on leisure breaks in the UK through Superbreak, an increase of 4% on the same week last year.
Mounser said: “As families tighten their belts it is likely that we may see more and more people opting to take breaks on home turf and I expect the ‘staycationing’ trend to continue for the rest of the summer and into the autumn.”
