Lastminute.com is to integrate TripAdvisor’s hotel reviews into it website as an “interim measure”.
The link-up was revealed by TripAdvisor’s parent company Expedia Inc in its Q2 results released last week.
A senior source at lastminute.com told Travolution that “customer reviews are now part and parcel of what customers expect from hotel booking websites, so we’ve linked up with TripAdvisor as an interim measure while we work on launching something of our own”.
Hotel reviews will start appearing on lastminute.com from 4 August. The property page on lastminute.com will feature the five most recently posted reviews from TripAdvisor, with a link to the relevant TripAdvisor page.
No details or timeline for lastminute.com’s revamped user generated content product were forthcoming.
Sabre Holdings, the US owner of lastminute.com, bought travel community site IgoUgo for an undisclosed sum over three years ago.
