CONRAD INVESTS $25M IN PROPERTIES


Conrad International Hotels is to invest $25m in the next two years on building new hotels and refurbishing existing properties. A new hotel in Bangkok will open next year, while redevelopment schemes at existing hotels include a new restaurant at the Conrad International London, due to open next month, and new health club facilities at the Conrad International, Brussels.


BASS HOTELS SIGNS INTER-CONTINENTAL DEAL


Bass Hotels and Resorts has signed management contracts for two new Inter-Continental resorts in Egypt, due to open next year. The 450-room Hotel Sharm El Sheikh Inter Continental Resort is in Nammah Bay, while the 500-room Hotel Taba Heights Inter Continental Resort will be inTaba on the Red Sea.


HILTON TO ROLL OUT MEETINGS PRODUCT


Hilton Hotels will launch its Hilton Meetings product and brand across Europe on April 10. The scheme, which is aimed at the small meetings market of up to 50 people, replaces Hiltons existing Meetings 2000 product. Over $10m has been spent upgrading conference facilities across the brand.


THAILAND REPORTS 11% RISE IN VISITORS FOR ’99


Thailand achieved a record 8.3m visitor arrivals last year, up 11% on the previous year. The country’s foreign-exchange earnings amounted to $8.15bn, up 28% on1998.
