The number of UK tourists visiting the USA increased 11% in May, thanks to the favourable exchange rate of the pound against the dollar.
So far this year nearly 1.8m people have visited the US from Britain, 8% more than the same period last year.
If this growth is maintained, 2008 could be the most popular year yet for Brits hitting the US.
Visit USA Association chairman Peter Moss said: “Clearly the favourable exchange rate has had a big impact and when this is combined with the wide choice of holidays, then the USA becomes an unbeatable holiday destination.”
