Online searches for flights to Majorca have spiked at 60% following the success of ITV’s Love Island.

ITV’s reality dating programme followed contestants over two months in a villa on the Spanish island.

Kiwi.com found searches for flights to Majorca surged during the finale of the show on Monday evening.

Alison Couper from Kiwi.com said: “Now that the British public can no longer watch the romantic exploits of those on Love Island it’s clear we’re hunting for our own romantic holiday.

“The show may have taken the nation by storm, yet it is clear the TV phenomenon has had a lasting impact on our summer holiday decisions.”

In comparison flight searches to Bali, where Ex On the Beach is filmed, saw an increase of 10%.
