Barrhead Travel’s Sharon Munro collects Scottish Women’s Award

Barrhead Travel chief executive Sharon Munro has collected the Business of the Year award at the first Scottish Women’s Awards on behalf of the travel agency.

The Scottish Women’s Awards recognise the success of women entrepreneurs, business women, professionals, civil servants, women in uniform and charity workers in Scotland.

The inaugural event took place at Glasgow’s Crowne Plaza Hotel on Wednesday, August 30, with 300 guests in attendance.

Sharon Munro praised the staff at Barrhead for helping the agency win the award.

She said: “I’m honoured to have been included in such an impressive group of fellow nominees – all business women in Scotland who are really making a difference.

“It is the people that really make Barrhead Travel so successful, and I could not have achieved what I have without the support of the team around me. I’d like to thank them for all the great work they do to help build the success of Barrhead Travel, a business I have worked for all of my career. One of the things that really drives me is supporting people at Barrhead Travel.”

Three quarters of Barrhead’s management team are women and Munro said she was “passionate about developing the next generation”.

“The fact that so many of the women in Barrhead Travel have started from the grass roots and worked their way into management positions is very gratifying to me,” she added.
