Rail operator GRJ Independent has designed new itineraries aimed at different age groups after reporting increased demand for train holidays from under-50s.
The company, a division of Great Rail Journeys, revealed advance bookings for 2018 were double those of a year ago.
Attributing the rise to the growing appeal of rail travel across different sectors of the market, the operator has put together itineraries to appeal to young professionals and families as well as mature adventurers.
The Magnificent Eastern & Oriental Express tour, aimed at young professionals, visits Thailand and Singapore, and costs from £3,310 including flights.
A 10-day family holiday to Lake Garda in Italy includes return standard class travel from London to Desenzano del Garda and offers seven nights at a four-star hotel, from £1,065 for a family of four.
Also new is a 10-day Majestic Tour of India, aimed at mature travellers. It includes return flights from London to New Delhi, the Shatabdi Express train to Agra, and seven nights’ B&B, excursions, transfers and guides, from £1,735.
GRJ Independent has also unveiled a new reservation system that halves the time it takes to produce agent quotes, and taken on new specialist tour advisers.
