AWTE to run seminars for women ‘to up their game’

The Association of Women’s Travel Executives has announced that RBI director Jane Burgess will be the speaker at the first of a series of seminars for women to ‘up their game’.

The seminars are aimed at senior women in the industry who want to improve their skills and aspire to achieve greater success in business.

Burgess, managing director of  Reed Business Information’s publishing sectors including travel and Travel Weekly, transportation, construction, personnel and hair and beauty, will present the first seminar on challenges and achievements she has experienced at board level.

AA People Development managing director Debbee Dale, who will be chairing the session, said: “While the overall demographics of women in business is changing, we feel that women need a forum to support, help and develop each other to eradicate some of the barriers that may remain an issue even in this modern day and age.”

AWTE chairman Tricia Handley said the session was part of a series of changes planned to ensure the association delivers better value to members. The association has also introduced a £25 fee for those who do not turn up at free events after booking in advance in a bid to reduce ‘no shows’.

The seminar takes place at the Connaught Rooms, Covent Garden, on October 13 at 5.30pm to 8pm. For more details go to www.awte.org.uk.
