Visit USA is hoping to drive sales through travel agents with the introduction of a new facility on its visitusa.org.uk website.
Chief operating officer Alan Waddell hopes the new Travel Agent Partner feature will be ready in time for the peak January market.
Once it is launched, agents will be able to sign up and be listed in a public directory, which consumers can use to find their local agent.
The directory will even highlight the amount of training an agent has on the US, allowing consumers to choose the most knowledgeable sales consultant.
Waddell said Visit USA is hoping to sign 1,000 agents up to the scheme, adding: “Any travel agent interested in the US market will be able to benefit.
“It is a no-brainer: agents have got everything to gain and there’s no cost involved.”
