Thomas Cook has restructured its senior team which will see two roles removed and others expanded.
It follows the announcement that Tui’s Andrew Flintham will become managing director of Cook’s UK business and Chris Mottershead as chief of UK source market and group differentiated product.
Chief digital and marketing officer Gilles Despas and commercial director Bjorn Sandstrom are to leave the business and will not be replaced.
Digital will be wrapped in with IT in a new function, led by Alan French as group strategy and technology director.
Despas spearheaded the roll-out of a single web platform, OneWeb, across the group, conducted the transformation of Cook’s brand campaigns and led the team responsible for delivering the alliance with Expedia, announced in September.
Despas will stay with the business until the end of December.
As part of a wider restructuring, group marketing moves to Magnus Wikner who adds to his current responsibilities for the Nordic market with the newly-created role of chief of Nordics source market and group marketing.
Thomas Hohn who is responsible for continental Europe source markets has had group complementary product added to his responsibilities.
The changes have been made as Cook reduces the amount of hotels it contracts itself and follows its tie up with Expedia which will see the online travel giant become the preferred provider of hotels for Cook’s city and domestic holiday business.
Expedia will also provide its booking platform to support all city break and hotel-only sales.
