Travel Counsellors expect business to grow despite downturn

Home-based agents remain positive about the industry despite the state of the economy, a Travel Counsellors survey has revealed.

When asked about the future of their businesses, 81% of Travel Counsellors predicted their business would be “even better than now” in a year’s time.

A total of 93% of Travel Counsellors said they love their jobs and are happier now than in their previous roles.

The home-based agents reported that sales were up 25% in September and 15% up in October compared withlast year.

Travel Counsellors managing director Steve Byrne said: “In today’s industry it is easy to be swept up in the talk of recession and economic downturn. The results of the survey show our agents are still in a very positive frame of mind.”

The survey, conducted in September, was completed by 800 agents in all Travel Counsellors locations including the UK, the US, Australia and Canada.
