Peter Deilmann Cruises hosted a fam trip from Passau to Vienna as it outlined plans to boost trade sales through a deal with Thomas Cook.
Travel Weekly asked some of the 23 agents and operators on the fam trip what they thought of the Peter Deilmann product.
What the agents said
“It’s been good to experience how lovely and restful it is to have the constant scenery that you would not get on an ocean cruise.
I am pleasantly surprised by how tasteful the decor is and am confident I can push this to clients as long as they are well briefed and know there is not going to be entertainment all the time.”
Sharon Trigg, cruise consultant, Mundy Cruising
“The main thing that has impressed me is the quality of the surroundings.
The staff have also been good and the quality of the whole experience is very high.”
James Hill, franchisee, GoCruise
“The cruise, in terms of the hardware, is nicely set out and of good quality.
It’s living up to its reputation, although you can never assume that what you do on a fam trip is going to be like the real thing.”
John Pengelly, travel consultant, Cruise Network
“I like the standard of fittings and service. If you want a bit of old fashioned opulence it’s jolly nice.
It’s a very different product from ocean cruising. You could easily convert city break holidaymakers to river cruising.”
Ian Hopley, managing director, Travelux
“The decor is fantastic, the food excellent and beautiful scenery.
It’s what you would expect a river cruise to be; seeing the world go by in the comfort of a floating five-star hotel.”
Lawrence Peachey, tours manager, DerTour
“I was on Cezanne [another Peter Deilmann ship] eight years ago and it’s as good as it was then.
The standards are very good. We hope to increase our river cruise sales; people are looking for alternatives to ocean cruising.”
Rachel Wright, director, Cruise Select
