Pig ‘affordable luxury’ hotels group to open three new properties

The Pig group of ‘affordable luxury’ hotels is being expanded with three new properties.

Parent company Home Grown Hotels is adding hotels in Bridge near Canterbury in Kent, Arundel in West Sussex and Padstow in Cornwall.

The first, the 28-room Pig at Bridge Place in Kent, is due to open this autumn.

The Grade II-listed Madehurst Lodge, near Arundel, was acquired last year and is set to open as The South Downs Pig in 2019.

The Grade II-listed Harlyn House near Padstow will require change of use consents to become The Pig at Harlyn Bay and is hoped to be open in time for summer 2019.

They will join five existing hotels in the New Forest, Southampton, Dorset, Devon and Bath.

Home Grown Hotels chief executive, Robin Hutson, said: “We’ve had a great couple of years, with customers apparently loving what we do.

“Occupancy is in the mid-90%’s in our rural locations and we know from our guests they want more Pigs.

“After searching far and wide for truly unique properties, we really are over the moon about our new Piglets in Kent, Sussex and Cornwall, and can’t wait to get started on this new phase of our development.”
