Airport worker dies at Heathrow after vehicle crash on airfield

Passengers at Heathrow were facing delays this morning after two vehicles crashed on the airfield, killing an airport worker.

Emergency teams were sent to the scene after the incident which reportedly happened at around 8am at Terminal 5.

The Heathrow worker suffered a cardiac arrest when two airport vehicles collided.

Hundreds of people have been stuck on aircraft, with many taking to social media to complain of confusion and delays.

Heathrow said: “We are dealing with a serious accident involving two vehicles on the airfield.

“We are working closely with the emergency services and updates will follow. The airfield remains open and we will work to minimise disruption to our passengers’ journeys.”

The airport confirmed the incident on Twitter and said it is unlikely to cause delays
But some passengers complained of disruption to flights.

British Airways said: “A number of stands at Terminal 5 are currently inaccessible and this is causing some delays.

“We are sorry for any inconvenience caused.”
