Travel companies Thomson and Hoseasons have signed up properties to holiday home rentals website Direct Holiday Bookings.
Direct Holiday Bookings, which launched in May 2008, carries property from more than 40,000 owners of apartments, cottages and villas worldwide, worth a combined £6 billion. Traffic has trebled each month since launch.
The deals with travel giant Thomson and tour operator Hoseasons with other travel companies have added a further 50,000 holiday homes to the site.
Managing director Andrew Gibson said home owners were attracted by the free listings for private owners. He added: “We are fast approaching our target to list more than 150,000 properties by the end of next year, which would secure our position as European market leaders.”
Last week the site reported a 15% increase in bookings. It claimed this was in response to holidaymakers looking to book rental properties direct with owners to save money on holiday costs.
“Consumers are savvier than ever when it comes to cutting costs on holidays and finding that rented accommodation represents good value,” said Gibson.
The site is now targeting strategic partners in the US.
