Carnival first cruiseline to sign up with Travel TV

Carnival Cruise Line has become the first cruise operator to sign up with Travel TV.

Travel TV sales and marketing director Martin Lomax said the deal will see the cruiseline’s promotional films and offers available on the television station as of December 23.

The films can then be picked out and played by more than 400 travel agents and homeworkers who pay the £200 monthly subscripion fee for Travel TV, which will host content by five different suppliers once Carnival goes live.

Lomax said: “Travel TV is an attractive medium. At the moment a travel agent will give the customer a brochure to look at but now they can actually show them what the ships are really like.

“Brochures are one dimensional but Travel TV is multi dimensional.”

Carnival has signed to the television station as it targets signing up a further 500 travel agencies to the service in 2009. Lomax said 300 agents have signed up since April.

He is also hoping to sign more suppliers to the service including international tourist boards.

Lomax said: “We’re developing closer links with tourist boards and that’s a main objective for next year.”
