Advantage launches franchise system

Advantage is launching a franchise system to attract new members.

Chief executive John McEwan said the scheme will launch in January with its own trust account set up to handle bonding, meaning travel agents who join will not have to have ABTA bonding.

Those joining will also have the option of letting Advantage take over their back office and marketing functions, meaning franchisees will be able to focus on selling to their customers.

McEwan said: “Agents will be able to join without being an ABTA member. It will allow us to bring new members in. We’re not going to market it aggressively but it will be available as an option.”

Head of business development David Moon said only around 12 agencies were expected to join the scheme in its first year, adding: “We’re going to go low key at the start, and looking for growth in the second year in terms of actively marketing the franchise system.”
