Daniela Wagner, head of international partnerships at Travel Weekly parent company Jacobs Media Group, was recognised with a ‘Celebrating Her’ Award at an event to celebrate International Women’s Day at German trade show ITB in Berlin.
The Celebrating Her Awards, now in their third year, are presented by the International Institute for Peace through Tourism India (IIPT India) to acknowledge “exceptional women in travel, tourism and hospitality”.
Among those also to receive awards were Sandra Howard Taylor, deputy minister of tourism for Colombia; Isabel Hill, director of the National Travel and Tourism Office at the US Department of Commerce; and Caroline Bremner, head of travel research at Euromonitor International.
Receiving her award, Wagner quoted former UNWTO secretary-general Taleb Rifai, saying: “You can change the world through the work you do.”
She added: “We are blessed to work in the world’s best industry.”
Wagner is also head of the Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) Europe, a former vice-president of the World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC) and ex-executive director of the European Tour Operators’ Association (Etoa).
Hill said: “Unless we use the talents of everyone, we can’t grow.”
