Travel companies make Sunday Times Top 100

Training for Travel and The Albatross Travel Group have made it into the sixth Sunday Times 100 Best Small Companies to Work For list.

The Albatross Travel Group sells group coach tours from the UK and Europe to Australia and New Zealand exclusively through the trade. The 62 employees, based in Larkfield in Kent, said they had faith in managing director Sean Taggart and felt a strong sense of family in their work teams. Customer service staff earn an average of £21,000 and get 23 days holiday.

The group has made the list for the last two years, and this year came in at number 72.

Training for Travel made the list for the first time, coming in at number 38. Based in Bury in Lancashire, the company was set up by Joanne Roche and Beverley Platt to provide specialist training for people in the travel industry. The 64 staff said their job was never boring and they were happy with their pay and benefits.

A total of 565 companies sought a place in the Top 100 list this year, 52 more than in 2008.
