Simpson Travel boss made redundant

Simpson Travel managing director Peter Williams has been made redundant as the operator curtails its expansion plans.

Founder Graham Simpson said the redundancy of Williams, who joined the operator just a year ago and was formerly the Hebridean International Cruises sales and marketing director, would take place with immediate effect.

Williams had been originally recruited with the remit of looking for opportunities for the operator to expand in to.

Simpson said: “The decision has been made to consolidate trading in the existing key markets of Greece, Corsica, Spain, Morocco and Italy and further expansion plans have been put on hold until consumer confidence is restored and the economy picks up.

“The departure of Peter Williams will not affect clients existing or potential bookings in any way and the day to day operation of Simpson Travel will continue to run as normal.”
