TTA Worldchoice receives first application for rival scheme to ABTA

TTA Worldchoice has received its first formal application for its new membership scheme that will rival ABTA’s.

Worldchoice managing director Simon Hargreaves said the number of agents wanting to join the scheme is about 20. It will be at least £250 cheaper a year than ABTA membership and TTA Worldchoice claims it offers a similar independent voice and services.

However, he added: “Those who have said they don’t want to join it are still really pleased as they have an option and we are providing an alternative.”

Meanwhile, Advantage chief executive John McEwan has denied claims the consortium’s own franchise scheme with optional bonding is designed to rival ABTA’s.

He said: “We are not going to promote it as an alternative and encourage members to switch into it.”
