Fight Fake Claims: ‘Dishonest’ holidaymaker ordered to pay Tui £10,000 plus costs

A holidaymaker has been found to be “fundamentally dishonest” in trying to make a false sickness claim against Tui.

Jadeep Singh, 34, from Salford, Manchester, was ordered by Manchester County Court to pay £10,000 with additional costs.

He claimed and suffered illness caused by food and drink at a hotel in Cancun, Mexico while on holiday with a large group for a wedding in November 2015.

However, he did not disclose any photos from the wedding or his holiday and witnesses also declined to bring any documents.

An investigation by Tui revealed evidence that contradicted the claim that Mr Singh was ill and this was used in court.

Tui UK & Ireland managing director Andrew Flintham said: “We have again showed our commitment in the fight against fraudulent holiday sickness claims.

“Despite the efforts we must go through to defend our industry and hotel partners we will continue to do so as we have a duty of care to protect honest holidaymakers.

“In this case the court has found that Jadeep Singh has brought a claim that is fundamentally dishonest and he has been ordered to pay our costs.

“We will continue to fight this issue bringing any similar cases to a court hearing and we hope that this sends out a clear message to anyone else considering making a fake sickness claim.”
