Freudmann resigns from ABTA board

Steven Freudmann has confirmed to Travel Weekly he has resigned from the board of ABTA.

He has also resigned his position as chairman of ABTA’s membership and code of conduct committee in Majorca at a board meeting today.

The news comes as calls were made for Freudmann’s resignation after Unpackaged Holidays went into administration.

In a statement Freudmann said: “Because of the uncertainty and publicity surrounding the recent failure of Unpackaged Holidays Ltd, I have decided to step down in the interests of ABTA. I am very keen that these events do not create a distraction for ABTA and its Members.”

ABTA president, Justin Fleming, said: “We are extremely grateful for all that Steven has done for ABTA over many years. We regret that this situation has arisen, and have accepted his resignation.”

He was already set to leave the board in April at the end of his two year term.
