Grecotel revamps five properties in €42m investment

Greek luxury chain Grecotel has revamped five properties in four of the country’s top tourist destinations at a cost of more than €42 million.

The upgrades cover 780 bedrooms, 40 dining venues and 155 acres of open-air infrastructure at resorts in Corfu, Halkidiki, Rhodes and the Peloponnese.

The investment has created 630 new jobs, bringing the workforce up to 6,100 employees.

The work covers the Corfu Imperial Grecotel Exclusive Resort, Daphnila Bay Dassia Grecotel LUX ME Resort, the new Casa Marron Grecotel All-In Resort, Pella Beach Grecotel Family Resort and Rhodos Royal Grecotel All-In Resort.

Grecotel expects a 7% increase in overnight stays and a 9% increase in turnover for 2018 compared to the same period last year.

The company is also investing in the next remodelling cycle of the group’s complexes for the 2019 season.

Managing director, Mari Daskalandonakis, said: “The remodelling of Grecotel hotels is continuous.

“It is a legacy and a precursor to the creation of ‘third generation’ units in Greece, which elevates the country’s tourism product and shields it from the competition.

“Corfu Imperial Grecotel Exclusive Resort, for example, our flagship property in Corfu, was already a leading hotel. Its present day marks the passage into the new era and dominance as an emblematic destination of the highest standards of hospitality and service in the Med.”
