Advantage Travel Centres prepares second state of the nation survey

Advantage Travel Centres is working with Travel Weekly to produce the second exclusive survey of its members and business partners to present at its annual conference in September.

The state of the nation survey will cover customer buying habits, key factors influencing current business performance, how the industry will change over the next three years, and how optimistic respondents are feeling about the future.

The full results will then be unveiled by Travel Weekly editor Karen Dempsey at this year’s Advantage Conference, which will be held at the Radisson Edwardian Hotel, Heathrow, on September 19 and 20.

Advantage marketing and sales director Colin O’Neill said: “We always intended the survey to be an annual service, and were interested in the information it brought out, although it was undertaken at the end of August last year way before the credit crunch really hit home.

“Now we can look one year on while we are in the credit crunch so the timing is better.”

O’Neill said the surveys will be sent out at the end of July, with respondents given three weeks to return their replies.

Last year’s survey, which saw 300 agents and business partners reply, revealed as many as 60% would consider a job outside the travel industry, while the economic climate was considered the most important factor to the trade over the next five years.
