Classic Travel owners Yvonne and Peter Holmes will benefit from £5,000-worth of advice after winning our financial makeover competition.
Travel Weekly, in conjunction with accountancy firm MacIntyre Hudson, will give the independent agency a financial health check. Agents will be able to follow their story and get tips on how to implement their own financial improvements.
The Worldchoice agency has been in business for 25 years and, as well as being a small independent agency, the company has its own tour operation for Crete, Orlando and Florida where it rents and manages 25 homes.
Classic Travel manager Yvonne Holmes (pictured right) said: “We are a healthy business, but we want someone with a fresh eye to give us their view.
“Business is tougher this year. Customer loyalty is not what it used to be and people don’t support local businesses – that is why the high street is dying.”
Holmes hopes the financial makeover will highlight parts of the business that could operate more efficiently.
She said: “Sometimes you need to take a step back and get someone to look at your business with a fresh eye.”
The agency operator advertises its product on the web. Holmes added: “We took the decision to go online early, and it has worked well for us.”
MacIntyre Hudson principal Andrew Burnham will give advice on how the agency can fine-tune its finances, as well as provide advice on how the shop can improve business.
Classic Travel was chosen after intensive judging by Burnham and members of the Travel Weekly team.
The agency was chosen because it is a healthy business with potential for improvement. Burnham said: “This is an established business that would benefit from a strategic redirection. An independent review of their business activities will allow them to operate more efficiently.”
