Tourism Australia promotes destination with new initiatives

Tourism Australia is increasing its promotion of the destination with two new initiatives.

In association with Tourism Australia and Qantas, STA Travel is offering consumers the chance to travel to Australia as a £10 pom.

There will be 150 single-fare £10 tickets available from 8am on August 5 at STA Travel branches in Belfast, Glasgow, London Victoria, Bristol, Manchester, Birmingham, Leeds and Southampton.

Tourism Australia regional general manager UK and Europe Rodney Harrex said: “Our partnership with STA Travel and the £10 pom promotion is part of Tourism Australia’s strategy in the UK to encourage more 18-30-year-olds to apply for the Australian Working Holiday Visa and live the Aussie Lifestyle.

“There are loads of opportunities for agents to sell additional product when Working Holiday Visa travellers come through the agency door.”

He claims agents need to be proactive and take the opportunity to sell adventure touring packages as well as flexible touring products.

Tourism Australia is also supporting a Maui Motorhomes training programme to introduce UK agents to its product.

Operator Maui Motorhomes is touring the country in a Maui Spirit 2 T/S vehicle and will be informing agents about the motorhome holidays.

The operator will be in Solihull on August 3; Birmingham on August 4; Nottingham on August 5; Manchester on August 18-19 and Leeds on August 20-21.
