Hertz bids to boost business sales with new incentives drive


HERTZ has launched a winter incentives campaign as part of its drive to get a larger slice of the business market.



The Winter Hot Spots promotion covers 16 popular holiday destinations ranging from Spain and Portugal to Israel and the US.



In addition to agents’ usual commission, Hertz are offering agents £5 Capital Vouchers, redeemable at high-street stores, for any prepaid product booking, a £7 Capital Voucher on a pre-paid compact size car in the US and a £10 Capital Voucher on a pre-paid intermediate size car in the US.



The promotion prices lead in at £69 for seven days in Barcelona, a £55 less than the standard rate.



Divisional vice-president leisure sales Bill Jones said: “It is assumed that most of our business is in the corporate sector and this is what we have been trying to correct.



“Globally our spilt is 50/50 between corporate and leisure but agents do not naturally think of Hertz when making a leisure booking.



“Our promotions have had a strong consumer and price message but we have also worked hard to integrate them with the agents in the hope of educating both the public and the trade that we do leisure too.”



To qualify for the new promotions, agents must make a booking between now and December 18 for car rentals up to and including March 31 2000.



Hertz representatives will be visiting travel agents around the country with information packs and giveaways.
