EFR Travel Group completes third deal in four years

EFR Travel Group, chaired by former Abta and Advantage chief John McEwan, is taking over Scottish business travel management specialist WD Travel.

The deal is the third in the past four years, placing Hertfordshire-based EFR Travel Group in the top 40 corporate travel providers in the UK.

Glasgow-based WD Travel was established 23 years ago and has a client base of industry sectors including shipping, advertising, oil and gas, bioscience, entertainment and IT.

EFR Travel Group founder and CEO Edward Rom said: “We are delighted to welcome the WDT team to the EFR family and look forward to working with them to build up their very successful business still further.

“With their established client base and Scottish heritage, they complement our existing corporate travel businesses, EFR Corporate Travel and CSR Travel, perfectly.”

WDT director George Glen added: ‘The directors and staff of WDT are excited to be joining the EFR Travel Group, moving on to a new stage in our history.

“We are looking forward to continued development, growth and prosperity as part of this highly regarded travel company.’

McEwan said: “As our third acquisition in four years, the addition of WDT to the EFR portfolio is part of our ongoing strategy of growing both organically and through the acquisition of appropriate companies.

“We now have a fantastic collection of travel businesses, ranging from corporate travel to private jets and luxury tour operators, and we look forward to developing this still further over the coming years.”

EFR a member of the Guild of Travel Management Companies and the WIN Global Partnership, with affiliates in more than 40 countries, and is a founder member of Virtuoso, EMEA.
