Former Teletext Holidays boss sets up website review service

Former Teletext Holidays managing director Matt Cheevers is in talks with two consortia with a view to targeting small businesses with a new one-day independent web review service.

Onedayreview.co.uk is a trading name of company Smooth Direction, recently set up by Cheevers to provide consultancy, recruitment and marketing services.

Cheevers would not name the consortia he is in talks with, but hopes to roll the service out to independent travel agencies with small budgets that need advice on how to improve their websites.

The service aims to give an independent and frank review of a company’s website, including branding analysis, design and booking processes.

Cheevers said the service was to review websites, not do the work required. He said; “Most people pay to have a review only if they are going to pay the company to do the improvements. This is designed for companies on smaller budgets so they can get a snapshot of where they are going wrong.”

He said: “A lot of people have been given bad advice or bought an off-the-shelf solution that doesn’t let them compete with rivals.”

Ultimately Cheevers hopes to roll the service out to other industries, such as sport and leisure, potentially as a franchise operation.

Meanwhile, Cheevers is also planning to launch at least two further businesses within Smooth Direction, and has already launched recruitment service Rise Search with C&M Recruitment.
