Cosmos Tourama becomes trade-only brand

Cosmos Tourama has followed in the footsteps of its sister operator Cosmos Holidays by becoming a trade-only brand.

Following the announcement, the operator has removed all direct discounting from its website and its newly released 2010 brochure has been stripped of direct dial numbers.

The layout of the brochure has also been changed, in a bid to make it easier for agents to use.

Cosmos Tourama head of trade relations Tony Byrne said: “I have been listening to what agents have to say about what they would like to see from escorted touring operators, and without a doubt, the removal of direct numbers from brochures and direct discounts on websites came top of the list.

“Our brochure now clearly refers customers to their local bonded travel agent. We have also stopped all direct consumer marketing, and any activity we do in the future – in terms of advertising, promotions or consumer shows – will be with agents.

“Agents always say they will support operators who take this action, and I now pledge my total support to them to provide the dedicated partnership they have constantly demanded.”

Brochures will also be available online and agents will also be able to access the Cosmos Tourama agent training programme through the website.
