MSC Cruises has revealed two new Cirque du Soleil at Seas shows will be performed on MSC Bellissima.
The shows called Syma: Sail Beyond Imagination and Varelia: Love in Full Colour are the latest products of the five-year partnership between MSC Cruises and Cirque du Soleil.
Both productions will be shown in the 400-capacity Carousel Lounge venue on MSC Bellissima, which launches in March 2019.
The Carousel Lounge has a 360° rotating stage allowing passengers to sit all the way round.
Syma takes the audience on a journey as a young sailor with a vivid imagination braves different elements.
Varelia puts a futuristic twist on the traditional medieval tale of a courtship between a princess and a blind man.
The artists for the new shows have now been cast and are currently training in Montreal, Canada.
A total of eight exclusive shows will be available on the line’s Meraviglia-class ships, once they all come into service. Two shows on each of the four ships.
MSC Meraviglia was the first ship to debut the new Cirque du Soleil at Sea concept when two shows – Viaggio and Sonor – launched last June.
MSC Grandiosa and MSC Virtuosa will both feature Cirque du Soleil shows when the launch in November 2019 and October 2020 respectively.
Cirque du Soleil shows can be booked in advance or while on board if there are seats available.
A three-course meal, costing €35, can be served before the show, while a speciality cocktail is available during the pre-show segment 30 minutes before the main performance.
Pierfrancesco Vago, MSC Cruises’ executive chairman, said: “With the creation of Cirque du Soleil at Sea we wanted to bring our guests the very best in on board live entertainment and more importantly something that they would not be able to see anywhere else in the world.
“As a family company, all our strategic partnerships are built on shared values and a shared vision – a true collaboration from beginning to end.
“With Cirque du Soleil at Sea we wanted to bring yet more innovation to our entertainment offering and this began with the bespoke design and construction of the state-of-the-art entertainment lounge through to the creative development of the shows, where we are involved every step of the way from early conception right through to final delivery of the shows.”
