Cunard Line has been voted consumers’ favourite cruiseline, but Thomson Cruises has came top for food, service and entertainment for the first time in cruise.co.uk’s latest survey of passenger reviews posted on its website.
The results of its latest survey of cruise passenger ratings are based on 17,000 independently-sourced reviews posted on its website over the last 12 months. It analyses star ratings of cruiselines.
Cunard scooped the best cruiseline slot in its August figures, as it did in the same survey in January.
But Thomson Cruises has made it to the top of the table for the first time, coming first in three categories. Thomson Spirit has been rated best for entertainment, ousting Royal Caribbean’s Independence of the Seas from the top slot. Thomson Celebration came first for best food and best service, ousting Oceania’s Insignia from both slots.
Meanwhile, Queen Mary 2 took the title of best ship, up seven places from January, instead of Insignia, and best accommodation, up four places, instead of Costa Cruises’ Costa Mediterranea. Independence of the Seas retained top slot as best for families and came top in the new category of best for activities. New entry Marco Polo took best shore excursion from previous winner Princess Cruises’ Star Princess.
The survey is its first quarterly poll. The next is due at the end of November.
Not all reviews are written by cruise.co.uk customers. All cruise passengers are encouraged to post up reviews regardless of who they booked through, according to a spokeswoman. Reviewers are incentivised to post reviews with free guide books.
