Globes Innovation Award deadline extended by one day

We have extended the deadline for The Globe Travel Awards 2010 Innovation in Travel Award until tomorrow, to allow more companies to complete and submit their entries.

TWgroup head of events and sponsorship Charlotte Davies said: “This is always a popular category, and so we have decided to give entrants one more day to ensure their applications are perfect.

“Travel remains an ever-changing industry, and those companies that innovate are the ones that succeed. The standard of entries remains high and we look forward to seeing the final ones come in today and tomorrow.”

Entries for the 2010 Innovation in Travel Award, which is sponsored by Cheapflights, are welcome from any travel business operating in, or from, the UK.

Nominees can be technology related or commercial, but they need to be both innovative and successful. The entries will be put before a judging panel of industry leaders who will make their decision based on the innovation, the application, and the impact.

Previous winners include TripAdvisor, for its adoption and development of social networking tools, and British Airways, which walked off the honours last year for a flight booking application developed for iPhone users.

The winner will then be announced at the Globe Travel Awards which will take place on January 19 in the Grosvenor House, London.
