Cosmos overseas purchasing and operations director Hugh Morgan has scooped a prestigious government award in recognition of his services to the UK travel industry to further tourism to Spain.
The Cross of Officer of the Spanish Order of Civil Merit award – similar in status to an Order of the British Empire in the UK – was presented to Morgan this week by his Excellency, Carles Casajuana, Spanish ambassador to the UK, on behalf of HRH King Juan Carlos.
Morgan said: “I am deeply honoured and extremely proud to receive this decoration. It is a very rewarding and emotional experience to receive recognition in this way.”
Spanish National Tourist Office director Ignacio Vasallo said: “I am delighted that Hugh, who has played such an important role in the British travel industry related to Spain, has been honoured by the Spanish government.”
Similar awards have been awarded to TUI Travel group chief executive Peter Long and Thomas Cook group chief executive Manny Fontenla-Novoa.
