Holiday Extras hails meet-and-greet growth

Four new meet-and-greet services offered by Holiday Extras at UK airports have taken more than 11,000 bookings since their launch in December.

The add-ons specialist said more than 620,000 customers booked its meet-and-greet services in the UK last year – a rise of 10% year-on-year.

The growth prompted the firm to launch four meet-and-greet services at three UK airports: Purple Parking and Meteor Meet and Greet at Gatwick; Purple Parking Meet and Greet at Southend airport; and Purple Parking Meet and Greet at London City airport.

Introduced between December 1 and February 1, the new services have already taken more than 11,000 bookings.

Matthew Paxton, chief commercial officer at Holiday Extras, said there is strong growth in all areas of the firm’s business but meet-and-greet in particular is growing well.

“Contrary to all the Brexit doom-mongering, we’re seeing strong growth in our market,” he commented.

“Bookings are up across the board and the percentage of customers we see flying to EU destinations this year is exactly the same as last year.”

Paxton added: “Meet-and-greet is the most convenient and hassle-free way for air travellers to leave their car at the airport – a professional driver picks their vehicle up at the terminal, stores it at a secure car park nearby while they’re away, and then brings it back at the end of the trip.

“Customers are clearly seeing the advantage of this approach, with 93% of them telling us last year they’d book the same meet-and-greet product with us again.

“The more people hear about it, the more demand we get. It’s a very convenient way to park at the airport, so it is no surprise that people keep coming back and telling their friends.
