P&O Cruises adds Artemis farewell cruise

P&O Cruises is offering an new final farewell cruise on Artemis in April 2011.

The 1,196-passenger ship was sold in October to MS Artania Shipping but was charted back by P&O Cruises to complete its published cruise programme.

That was due to end on April 12 2011 with a final world cruise, but P&O Cruises has now added a 14-night farewell voyage in the Mediterranean.

The cruise departs Southampton on April 12 and will visit Gibraltar, Alicante, Palma, Sorrento, Civitavecchia, the port for Rome, Monte Carlo and Barcelona. Prices start from £1,199 per person. Sales open on December 1 2009.

P&O Cruises managing director Carol Marlow said as one of the best-loved ships at sea, it is only fitting that Artemis‘ final voyage is a celebration.

She said: “While the itinerary will include iconic ports, I am certain that the highlights will be the on-board celebrations and chance for cruisersvto bid farewell to a dear friend and remember happy times.”

The Farewell Cruise will include champagne sailaways, a special jazz and classical Music Festival at Sea, commemorative memorabilia and surprise guest entertainers.

Artemis was due to be chartered to German tour operator Phoenix Reisen once it leaves the P&O Cruises’ fleet.
